Traveling east.... we spent our only time in Wisconsin at a campground where our leaders had arranged for two free nights. Thanks, Nick & Chip! We took a bike ride and then enjoyed being in the north woods.
Now we are in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Yesterdays sightseeing was the Pictured Rocks cruise on Lake Superior to view the spectacular and colorful rock formations. Since it was very windy and the lake was rough, those of us who are prone to seasickness opted out. The brave ones had a good but rough trip and on the return portion the sun came out and the water calmed somewhat.
The shore of Lake Superior....seagrass, soft sand, rolling waves....we could be at the Outer Banks of NC.
Today the fellows toured the Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee to learn the history of the Iron Region. The ladies got to do their own thing!
Wow, I get a look at the highway we went down in the UP. It was too windy for us to take the boat too. We really enjoyed the shipwreck museum at Paradise, MI. The sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald is worth some study. We loved the Soo Locks and the boat ride there. Looking forward to your arrival there.
